1955 – 2015
It is an honor indeed to have known an individual like Bill Pollom, who managed to personify those attributes to which we should all aspire: genuine kindness and a caring for those in need; an incisive wit with a penchant for humor and laughter; a robust but always congenial spirit of competitiveness and engagement; and an unwavering commitment to family, church, community and friends–and everyone was a Friend of Bill. Bill was, in short, an inspiration to all who knew him.
We will miss him deeply.
Bill was a dedicated runner and athlete (and an obsessively dedicated fan of baseball and his beloved Cubs–who else would name his dog Wrigley?). He cared deeply about those in need, especially those he encountered during his treatment for cancer; and he was committed to promoting excellence in Danville’s schools–his three children are proof of that! It is fitting then, that we run this Father’s Day race in his memory, to benefit Freear’s Hope Foundation and Danville Schools Education Fund.
And for Bill’s sake–GO CUBS!
Over the course of two years we have received $6200. Thank you!
Stay tuned and book mark this link for next year’s event.
